When God's People Pray
9 September 2026
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
1 John 5:14 (NIV)
It has been amazing to hear about the prayers offered up to God on my behalf from all around the world. I’m overwhelmed with the love people have for me, whether they know me personally, through my husband, or through you.
Many years ago, I spent three years writing and mailing one prayer postcard a day to family, friends, and strangers. I learned a lot about praying for others. Some, who were extremely touched, taped their cards to mirrors and refrigerators. The unsaved or those who walked away from the faith posted them on Facebook or wrote me an amazing letter of gratitude.
Now, like those to whom I sent a prayer postcard, I’m on the receiving end. And, wow, prayer is even richer, deeper, and wider than I have ever known. I can grasp why prayer touched many and how it can help strengthen a person. To pray and to be prayed for is an amazing gift from God to communicate with him and to love one another.
Here are many ways God has answered your prayers thus far:
50% reduction in the tumor
I no longer have a soy allergy—it is gone.
No fevers
No more night sweats
My leg is almost healed from edema.
Overcoming anemia—my hemoglobin is on the rise.
Your encouragement through prayer kept me hanging on.
With the cancer treatment journey halfway through, let’s continue to pray for me to be cancer-free. We are almost there.
Love and smiles,
Tammy
