Being Lifted Up

Happy Fall Everyone!

Many of you have asked for an update, checking on me. Thank you so much. Most days, I’ve been able to take thoughts captive and not dwell on “What if?”, “If only?”, “Why me?”, and even “Will God heal me?”

The last twenty-four hours have been the hardest. I ended up having an odd allergic reaction (and not to soy), which caused swelling and headaches. Since defenses were down, I dipped emotionally, and my mind started to wander. Thankfully, Brian and a few close friends lifted me back up. They reminded me God does heal, God does care, and God is with me in this journey.

Speaking about caring friends, another close friend arranged for me to obtain a second opinion from UT Southwestern on October 1. Without going into too much detail, I received a DNA report on the tumor. In my understanding of how the report reads, both chemotherapy and immunotherapy don’t have much success with those types of treatment avenues. So, I am doing some due diligence and will ask more detailed questions with both oncologists.

Also, on September 30, I have a phone call with an integrative medicine center within a reasonable distance from home, where I may try some alternative therapies. The only hurdle is their focus is preventative health, not cancer, though they do offer Vitamin C IV and Hyperbaric Chamber.

With all that said, I have been diligently following my eating regimen, supplement-taking, and therapies I started for cleansing the lymphatic system. I’m praying that God has been reducing the tumor. Perhaps it is almost gone.

One last thing: Psalm 77 has become a favorite of mine.  To me, it begins with crying out to God in distress. Then it moves to questions like, “Has God’s unfailing love vanished forever?” But later it transitions to remembering his power, and the psalm ends with the crossing of the Red Sea (my favorite verse): “Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.”

How does he lead us?

1.     By his Spirit

2.     By his Word

3.     By you—his people

Thank you for praying for me. May God’s glory shine through this trial.
