An Overwhelming Calm

Thank you to everyone who has lifted prayer, sent an encouraging note, picture, or package, as well as those who have offered direction. I am so glad to report that Brian and I decided a treatment.
But before I share the treatment plan, I want to give you a summary of this week:
1. I had a phone call with the integrative medicine place near me. They scheduled a health consultation for me this Wednesday. This MD doctor will act as a secondary primary physician (as mine is one and a half hours away in Dallas). Their goal is to keep my body healthy.
2. I also went to Dallas to have a second opinion. The treatment of radiation and chemotherapy was similar except for a different drug and duration.
Brian and I still feel strongly that I am not to take chemotherapy. Having that second opinion, however, propelled me forward and I will be forever grateful.
In the car after that appointment, I shared with Brian my concerns, especially around the DNA Tumor Report findings that toxicity will not work with the tumor. I also shared my disappointment in our health shared program that they will not support alternative therapies. (Brian and I do not have health insurance; we are part of a health-sharing community.) We had submitted to them a treatment plan from Hope4Cancer in Mexico (who treated my sister-in-law’s cancer), but it was rejected due to its location in Mexico and its alternative therapies.
It was at this time in the car Brian said, "Let's use the funds we have for the house for your treatment with Hope4Cancer." This fund reserve is from the house sale in McKinney, which we had been saving to build our country home. At the moment when Brian and I relinquished the dream of our home, we both had peace. (For those interested, Hope4Cancer does use radiation and surgery when necessary.) Their focus is NED—No Evidence of Disease.
Two special things happened right after we felt a calm overwhelm us. Brian realized that if he had not been sick for six months, most of our reserve funds would be gone, as he would have started the buildout for the house. The next day, a friend who is an interior designer called and said, “I have a client that is replacing a stove top with a grill. It has hardly been used and is in great shape. Do you want it?”
We both believe God is saying to us: My ways are higher than yours. Stay with me. You will be cared for both now and in the future.
A peace that surpasses understanding has swept in. Thank you for your prayers that got us here. As for the treatment, I will be heading to Mexico for three weeks (October 26 to November 16). Then, I will go home and follow a home therapy program for three months. I will return to Mexico two more times for an evaluation followed by three months of home therapy each time. God continues to bless us, provide for us, and is guiding us on this NED journey.
